Education

A new exciting venue for your Schools Educational Outings!

LEEDS CITY CRUISERS LTD based at Clarence Dock in the City of Leeds will be able to offer educational school trips aboard our cruise boat The Black Prince from May 2008.

The Black Prince can carry upto 50 passengers and is registered and inspected by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency therefore individual schools do not need a risk assessment simply a copy of the vessels passenger certificate for there records.

The vessel cruises the historic waterways of the Aire Valley. Experience the majestic Victorian Bridges and the history of the Industrial Revolution as we cruise the City Centre waterways and in contrast , the countryside and impressive lock systems of the Aire and Calder Navigation .

The cruise location meets part of primary school key stage one and two requirements as well as providing an exciting and unusual way of taking the children back into time to experience the waterways as they did during the industrial revolution.

The Royal Armouries Museum (free entry), Jousting Tiltyard and Birds of Prey displays are all within the Clarence Dock arena ensuring easy coach parking or Rail access with no onward travel involved once the children have arrived in Clarence Dock

Suggestions;

On our one hour trips there are three options to choose from giving children a range of exciting experiences and provide a one stop shop for teachers to plan days out.

1; Start at the Royal Armouries and cruise the historic city section of the River Aire up to the splendid Victoria Bridge and view the lock gates of the Leeds Liverpool Canal behind which several million tons of water is controlled by the engineering of the industrial revolution 200 years ago and then cruise back to visit the Royal Armouries museum or return to school.

2; From the Royal Armouries experience the excitement as you transit the city flood lock then cruise the upper section of the Aire and Calder Navigation before returning to visit the Royal Armouries or return to school.

3: A one way trip to historic Thwaites Mill navigating the city flood lock and the massive Knostrop hydraulic lock. Children can then visit this fascinating watermill and museum and pick up their coach. This cruise can also be done in the other direction ideal to alternate classes.

Each one hour cruise costs £225 for upto 50 passengers and sponsorship may be available from local business via us to cover part of the cost. You can choose how many hours you want the cruise duration to be, the above details or ideas only.

We would welcome your help via yourselves to make all Leeds schools aware of this this exciting new venture.
